Installing Garageband Jam Packs On Lion Movies

THANK YOU JOSHGRANT for that priceless intel 'scuse th' pun'about installing the jam pack World!!! When I looked at the Installation Log, I noticed the Tiger. Package wording and wondered 'What has Tiger to do with this installation??' So, while lurking this forum, I became enlightened on the fact that this was formatted for Mac Power PCs, not Intel Macs!!!!

This is a problem that has been bugging me for a while. GarageBand includes a large bank of loops, which can be augmented with several Jam Packs sold by Apple, as well as loops from third-party sources. By default, Apple's loops are stored in locations on the startup volume. However, as you. How to Install Garageband Jam Packs on Lion! GarageBand Jam Pack: 12-string Chord layout. That's why I could not finish the installation on my iMac Just when I thought it was a memory thing and I was about to have a 'white elephant' on my hands..You Saved Th' Day Now, I can commence to making joyous music.with gusto!! You are appreciated!!! Quick question for all of you out there: I installed Logic Studio on my Imac but, for some reason, the Jam Packs did not install with the Studio program.

(Currently, I have three of the Jam Packs on my computer that I previously bought for GarageBand - but would also like the other 1 or 2 that come along with the Studio program). The program actually went through the entire install process without even asking for the Jam Pack DVDs.

Installing Garageband Jam Packs On Lion Movies

When I open the Logic Pro program, I can see the Jam Packs that I previously installed - but would still like the ones that come with Studio. My first thought is to just delete the Jam Packs that I already have and re-install Logic Studio, hoping that ALL of the Jam Packs will install with the program the second time around. Any thoughts on this? Your help is greatly appreciated - thanks!

Hello, I installed the Logic Studio 9 upgrade from Logic Studio 8, but now I seem to have all my loops in double on my computer. The old (Logic Studio 8) loops are in the location Library - Audio - Apple Loops (I can tell because the Jam Pack Voices folder isn't there, all the other loops (Jam Packs, Garage Band, Soundtrack Pro etc) are there.

But in that location there's also a folder simply called 'Apple' containing ALL the loop-folders again (all the Jam Packs and stuff, including the new Voices). So I wonder: is it safe to delete the old Apple Loops (the ones in the Library - Audio - Apple Loops) folder and asume the new Locig Pro 9 has indexed the new ones? (in the Library - Audio - Apple Loops - Apple) folder?

Then you select which contents you want to transfer from your old mac to a new one.If your new Mac already is set up, you can do this manually: The 'Migration Assistent.app' is installed in the 'Utilities' folder inside your 'Applications' folder. Double click it to launch it.

You can transfer from your iMac (connect it using a fire wire cable or USB cable, and boot it in 'Target' mode, by holding down the 'T' key while booting) or from a TimeMachine Backup of your iMac. The Migration Assistent will talk you through the procedure.RegardsLonie. Hello Logic gurus, my question is simple,I own Logic Studio 9 on dvd (before it went to the app store) I have logic on my Imac, but i only want garageband (newest version w/ iLife '11) on my macbook,I only want the jam pack discs (3) on my macbook to use w garageband, So my question is can i just install the 3 jam pack content discs on my macbook to just use in garageband with out installing logic 9? I know you can start the installer for logic 9 and deselect things you dont want to install but not sure if you can deselect everything except the jam packs? Does anyone know any ways of just installing the jam pack discs w out installing logic? If anyone has any info on how to do this w out installing logic would be cool? I would just like to install the 3 jam pack content discs that come w logic 9 to use on my macbook w garage band.My macbook has Snow leopard. Thanks guys,Tommy.

Exact same prob here.on disc 2 of the jam packs. I rang apple and, as someone else here said, they dont have replacement discs in stock yet, but they guy said he'd let me know and send them out when he does.

The only problem im having is in opening certain preset or orchestral software instrument. For example, the orchestral template at start up basically cant find anything.a bit annoying, just hoping and presuming the replacement dics will sort it out. Message was edited by: cirj. Yesterday I was performing the installation of my new Locic studio 8 on my macbook.

I was thinking of intalling audio contents 1,2 and 3 plus the jam packs on an external hard drive. I think I got confused and when it asked me to thick what files to install I selected them all. Fine, apparently I was installing the all thing on my machine. Then, when it asked me to insert the audio content 1, it let me chose a different location and I chose the ext hard drive.

Audio content 1 was being installed on the main drive and secondly also on the external one. When it asked me for audio cd 2 and 3 it just installed on the external one. I still had to put all the jam packs so I reinserted the locic studio cd and chose to install only the jam packs which had to be installed only on the main drive but before asking me for the jam packs cds it asked me for audio content 3. I know it sounds complicated in writing but now I got audio 1,2,3 in the external drive and audio 3 + the jam packs in the main one. I followed the instruction from other topics to copy the loops from the main to the external drive, deleting the index loops etc but when I drag the loops folders from the ext drive into locic 8 loops library it just copy them again without asking to reindex.

Please help!! First, I apologize to those of you who've already answered this question a bazillion times. I'm new to GB and recently upgraded to iLife '09 and added the Symphony Jam Pack. I've read on various websites about Jam Pack 1 -- which supposedly contained a software version of a Bsendorfer Grand Piano? Can anyone tell me a.) if there is such a thing and b.) whether or not it's included in one of the current Jam Packs or c.) if it's not included in one of the current Jam Packs, is Jam Pack 1 compatible with GB '09? Thanks Kappy for the quick response. I just installed Jam Pack by clicking on the install file of Jam pack.

It took nearly 20 minutes and then all of a sudden this message came up. When I tried to click Install or Not Now. Nothing happened. And the windows were keep on multiplying as if machine got hit by a Trojan.

Seems like that Apple never updated their Jam Pack install and they are still selling it from their stores without testing on their newer version. Auran Trainz 2009 Downloads more. I will try to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help.

Hey there, just bought the new macbook pro and I have a problem. Im do alot of musicproduction and began installing the apple jam packs. Suddenly when I was half-way through a installation of a jam pack my computer ran out of battery. And now I cant install the the jam pack because the old 'half-way-trough-installation' is blocking the new one.

Hi all I'm a Logic 8 user, and need to install the jam packs onto an external drive, as my powerbook hard drive is almost full. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it, because, when I put the jam pack contents disk in my drive to install, a dialog box tells me to install the jam packs from the Logic install disk. In spite of the fact that the read me file says that I can 'freely install' the larger audio files anywhere, the Logic Install disk won't let me do this. It does not give the the option to change disks, even though I have deselected all the install options, except for Jam Pack.

It actually seems that the steps you need to take to run the installer are backwards. You have to choose the disk on which to install Logic, and then choose what elements of Logic to install, so I can never choose the external hard drive! Does anyone know why this might be. Or can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks Angus Armstrong. Hi All, I recommend using links. I liked Schneb's comments, but I wanted more.

The following steps require you to use Terminal, but no worries. I'll explain it along the way. Note: anything after you$ (your prompt) is what you need to type. Make sure you close GarageBand first.

Open Utilities/Terminal when that opens type in you$ cd /Volumes you$ ls You should see something like: My iPod LACIE Macintosh HD This particular instance LACIE is my external drive You can then use Finder to COPY /Library/Application Support/GarageBand to the root of your external drive (it doesn't have to be the root, just makes things easier). I had 12 GB of data and it took about 30 minutes. If you want to do it all in Terminal you can do the following (be sure to replace LACIE with the external drive name). The -R means recursive, you can also add -v to see what it's doing, but it takes longer. You$ cp -R /Library/Application Support/GarageBand /Volumes/LACIE/. Then you make a link.

Well for starters, it's the UNIX way of doing things. You can easily map directories to other external devices, etc.

But the BEST thing is. If you want to install another Jam Pack it will automatically be installed on the external drive. Well, Unix sees the link as a directory, all it's doing is copying files to the directory. The kernel takes care of where it's actually going.

So back in terminal. You$ ln -s /Volumes/LACIE/GarageBand /Library/Application Support/GarageBand.link (The -s means symbolic - think of it as a shortcut) Then if you want to check to make sure everything is copied over correctly you can do.

You$ cd /Library/Application Support you$ diff -r GarageBand GarageBand.link You might see some differenced like.DS_Store. I don't think they matter. When that's all said and done you can do some testing. What I did was renamed the GarageBand folder to GarageBand.old and the GarageBand.link to GarageBand.

(In terminal use mv - means move) you$ mv GarageBand GarageBand.old you$ mv GarageBand.link GarageBand So how long does this take. You$ time /Applications/GarabeBand.app/Content/MacOS/GarageBand Press command+Q once it done loading and you will see output from time. Time just calculates the amount of time something took to run in this case GarageBand loading and closing. On my iMac G4 I got real 0m22.468s user 0m10.158s sys 0m3.070s Then test it the old way (renaming the directories) you$ mv GarageBand GarageBand.link you$ mv GarageBand.old GarageBand and run the above time command again.

On my system the times were very minimal (hundredths of a second off) and that could also have been how quick I presses command+Q to close it. Either way on a USB 2.0 drive I was impressed. I now have 12GB free and can install Jam Pack 4 (which will be installed on the external drive yeah!). When you're happy with the results, delete the old folder and free up disk space.

Note - I've also done this to move my iTunes music. I just did an 'erase and install' Mac OS X on my MacBook and am re-installing my music software. I have iLife '08 (GarageBand), all five Jam Packs (not Voices), and Logic Studio (I bought the Jam Packs for GarageBand before Logic Studio came out and I decided to buy it). Anyways, I have installed GarageBand on my recently wiped clean operating system, but have not installed the Jam Packs.

I am in the process of installing Logic Studio as we speak, and am installing the Jam Packs to Logic from the 3 'Jam Pack Content' discs that come with Logic. I have a few questions regarding this: 1.) Will installing the instruments/loops to Logic from the 'Jam Pack Content' discs that came with Logic be the same, in effect, as if I had installed them from the actual separate 5 GarageBand Jam Packs? Would there have been any advantage or reason to install them from the separate 5 GarageBand discs and not through Logic with the 3 content discs? 2.) What if I want to use GarageBand instead of Logic some time? Having installed the Jam Packs through the 'Jam Pack Content' discs that came with Logic, will the instruments/loops be available in GarageBand now as well? If not, is there something I can do to make them available in GarageBand without having to install them all over again from the 5 GarageBand Jam Pack discs, which I imagine would waste much time and memory?

3.) Finally, now that I have installed the Jam Packs to Logic via the content discs that came with Logic, would there be any benefit or reason whatsoever for me to install the 5 GarageBand Jam Packs? Any information in regard to any of these questions will be much appreciated. Thanks a lot. Message was edited by: Tron55555 Message was edited by: Tron55555. Contacted Apple Logic Pro Support today and was able to remove older Jam Packs and install new CAF Jam Pacs.

Garage Band had no trouble finding the updated links. I was told that Instruments must remain on the startup volume, but the rest of the Jam Pack Apple Loops can be located on an external hard drive or the internal startup drive. I installed mine on an external drive and it's all working great.

To install on an external drive, use the installer and click on the triangle next to each Jam Pack until all subdirectories are revealed. Instruments will be grayed out but the Apple Loops will have a folder under the Location column. Click on the folder and it will allow you to redirect where the files are to be installed. Check out this link which explains where your Apple Loops and Instruments are located. Note: Each Jam Pack installs them in different places so look at all 3 locations in this document: Also you need to remove Jam Pack entries in the receipts folder which is located at HDLibraryReceipts. If you don't do this the Logic Pro Installer will not recognize that the physical Jam Pack files have been removed. Once I did this it was clear sailing.

Note: That the Jam Pack names in the receipts folder don't always match what the name of the Jam Pack is. In other words, the Symphony Jam Pack is listed under Jam Pack 4 in the receipts folder. So just double check this. Most of the others are named the same as in World Music, Voices, Remix Tools, etc. Hope this info helps. Hello,I had been using the software instruments on all the jam packs for a year or so. I had downloaded them as part of Mainstage 2 from the App Store.

When I upgraded to Mavericks from Mountain Lion, both versions of Garageband are not showing all the software instruments in the jam packs. Jam Packs 1 and Voices are showing. But all others are not showing in the legacy section for software insruments. All loops are showing from all the jam packs. When I try to load a software instrument through the loops, it asks for exs24 files, which are not there, as jam packs audio files are in a different format.

But, why do Jam Packs 1 and Voices seem to work then, while others are not even seen?Engineering at Apple is not able to find the reason. For those of you with experience of loading several major applications on a computer, I have this to ask. I am loading up my MacBook Pro for travel and putting Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio on the same disk. Both apps load Soundtrack Pro and use GarageBand Jam Packs. Does anyone have suggestions for getting the appropriate pieces of software loaded.

IE: I could load the complete FCS2 and just not load STP2 when loading Logic ( I suppose). What about using Logic Studio's Jam Packs in GarageBand (as well?). For those of you with experience of loading several major applications on a computer, I have this to ask.

I've recently gotten leopard and installed it on my computer but it wouldn't download all the way so i kept trying different things to get it to download. One of which was to erase and install rather than archive and install. How do I get them to work because I need those instruments? After installing Garageband 3.0.5 and the Jam Packs I received a message in 'Software Update' to install 'GarageBand Jam Pack Update' version 1.0.1 710KB. Suppose to upgrade my version of 1.0 to 1.0.1. After downloading it and trying to install it I get a message that 'The update GarageBand Jam Pack Update cant be installed.

Sorry, an unexpected error occurred. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder.' Now every time I do a software update I get this message to update. Doing a search I see that someone else has a problem similar to mine but his says, GarageBand Jam Pack Voices 1.0 to 1.0.1. Any thoughts, thanks.

Hello,I downloaded Logic last night. Having used Garageband for many years now, I have quite a few jam packs on my computer. The status for said jam packs in Download Additional Content is 'Incomplete.' For each jam pack, it says that the loops are Installed, but Instruments and Sound Instruments are not. The thing is, I know that many of the Instruments ARE installed, as I use them in GarageBand.

If I decide to install the jam packs through Logic, will my older instruments be detected? What I don't want is twice the space being taken up on my hard drive because the instruments live in two separate places. Any info would be great. I can't wait to start using Logic!Thank you! Hey, Then your only choice is to copy several folders to the same location on your MacBook: You need to check both your /Library and your user/Library for the following: First, in: /Library/Audio/ - the contents of your 'Apple Loops' folder; then, the contents of 'Plug-Ins/Components'; then, the contents of 'Presets/Apple'.

Second, in: /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/ - the contents of 'Plug-In Settings'; the contents of 'Sampler/Sampler Instruments'; the contents of 'Sampler/Sampler Files'; then your 'Track Settings' folder. After you do all that, you need to discard the contents of your '/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops Index' on your MacBook, and then open GarageBand on your MB, open your Loop Browser, and drag your 'Apple Loops' to it.

That's a start, Good luck, WH [:c)~. Sorry for re-posting but realized I was in the wrong place. This is the place to be.Hey there, just bought the new macbook pro and I have a problem.

Jam Packs have always confused me. How many are there? On the Apple Site it says says all six are included in 9 but it only shows 5 boxes at the bottom of this page: On the Wiki page about Jam Packs it says: All current Jam Packs to date are: GarageBand Jam Pack: Remix Tools GarageBand Jam Pack: Rhythm Section GarageBand Jam Pack: Symphony Orchestra GarageBand Jam Pack: World Music GarageBand Jam Pack: Voices There was also another GarageBand Jam Pack, initially known just as 'Garage Band Jam Pack,' later 'Garage Band Jam Pack 1' that was discontinued in January of 2006. Is that the 'sixth' Jam Pack? Is there a difference in regards to Jam Packs in Logic 8 and 9? I wanted to add to my above post -- it is possible that even the newer version of Logic (Logic 9) does not have Voices.

Like I said, I'm pretty positive it has all 6, but Voices and the original Jam Pack 1 are the only two that would be worth checking on in my opinion. The other four are definitely included. For the first Jam Pack, click on the link in the post above to check your loops/instruments to see if it's installed. For Voices, simply look at your instruments and see if you have the vocal ones installed somewhere.

Hope that helps. I recently purchased a macbook maybe 45 days ago or so and I got the free sixty day trial to ilife so I thought I could download the jam packs but alas it has not happened that way.

Is there any other way of getting the older packs or even the new ones without using the ilife thing? I'm not looking to beat the system. Just trying to get maximum usage of my garageband software.

I feel limited with what came with it and am hoping to explore the jam packs before committing myself to paying for something I haven't had a chance to test out first. It seems that the Jam Packs from the Main Stage 2 application are no longer being acknowledged in GarageBand 10. Once I downloaded the new GarageBand, the Jam Packs didn't transfer over during download. In the old GarageBand you would go to MainStage, download additional content and then the Jam Packs would automatically go into GarageBand. I retried this action for the new GarageBand just in case but it isn't importing them. It would seem very silly and consumerist of Apple to allow you to purchase all the Jam Packs in one application so as to be used in GarageBand only for them to no longer work in the new and improved GarageBand so could someone please spell out what I am doing wrong?

I have all but Final Cut Pro Sound Effects, but that's another application isn't it.Yes, that are sound effects in Final Cut for making movie sound tracks, but they are available in GarageBand, if you have that application. That's a stupid place to put them - is there a way of merging the legacy area into their appropriate groups with the rest of the default garageband groups so that I don't have to sort through two different folders?I have not tired that, sorry. And I would wait for the next GarageBand updates.

I expect it to change a bit, and then all changes to the installation location might cause problems. Hello all, I know this issue is very old on these forums but nevertheless I can't find the solution, even after having read whatever I found around here. I had a perfectly working setup with several GB jam packs including the ones that come with MainStage 2. Recently I moved my content from Macbook Air onto Mac Mini (late 2012) and that's where problems began I get errors about missing instrument files (and I do find see respective folders in /library/ 'instrument library'). Removing both Garage Band and Mainstage2 and then reinstalling them. Reinstalling individual jam packs from DVDs or backups. I even 'touched' my old folders to make sure that the date was correct on them (not sure if this does anything useful though).

I still have the content missing, EG 'Liverpool Bass', 'Glockenspiel', 'Steinway Piano', violins and related. When I look under '/library/Application Support/Garage Band/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sample Files', I do not see the folders with samples even though the instrument definitions are in '/library/Application Support/Garage Band/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sample Instruments'.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can try? Hello yall, I recently installed logic studio 9 on my macbook. Hey there,I'm currently using GarageBand for mixing, recording and generally learning music creativity skills.

I noticed that with GarageBand you can purchase Jam Pack's (which are no longer available directly from Apple) however what I did notice is that MainStage (via the App Store) gives you all six jam packs! Which is a brilliant value for money bargain.I was wondering if I purchased MainStage would these Jam Packs be usable in GarageBand?I assume they will be seeing as they are installed in the same folder/pathway on the Mac.Just wanted to clarify before purchasing MainStage.Cheers!Thom. Hi franceshendry, I am glad to hear you restrained from using a hammer! I believe we can determine why the printer is saying paper jam when there is not one. It is entirely possible that something has fallen into the printer and is blocking the paper path or sensor, I have seen this happen so many times with these little Deskjets. Take a look at the following video.

I used to provide phone support and I have heard people say they have found the most peculiar things such as skittles, an unopened piece of gum, thumb tacks, paper clips and more. Pacifist can't open it due to there not being a visible package Pacifist can indeed open the packages, even though you can't see the packages right now. Let's say you need something from this disk: Jam Pack Content 1.

So insert that disk. Then in the Finder, use this menu command: Go Go to Folder (or press command-shift-G). In the dialog that appears, paste this: /Volumes/Jam Pack Content 1/Packages/ And press 'Go.' A window will appear called 'Packages.' Inside that window, you will see all the packages on that disk. Pick out one that you need. Drag that item and drop it onto the Pacifist application icon.

Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy Brutality Mod Скачать. Pacifist will open the package. Now you can use Pacifist's Install button. What's happening is that the packages are not invisible, but the folder which contains them is invisible. This technique lets you open that folder, anyway.

Then you can see the packages. Each disk contains multiple packages. If you select them all, and drop them all onto Pacifist, Pacifist will open a window for each one. Then you will need to press the Pacifist Install button separately in each window. So it's not exactly one step, but this shouldn't be too bad.

And maybe you don't need every single package. I recently took my Macbook Pro to the Apple Store to get its hard drive replaced. However, since then, I have found that GarageBand no longer has access to the Software Instruments from all the Jam Packs I downloaded from MainStage, (which I purchased a long time ago from the Mac App Store for this very reason).

MainStage claims all software instruments are installed, but their checkboxes remain selectable and I can issue the command to install them again as if they'd never been installed in the first place. It then goes through the motions, so to speak, creating a window with downloading progress bar, requests my password to authorize it, showing installation progress, and when all is said and done, it appears as if nothing ever happened. Now, I know that GB 3 allows one to install the program and the basic loops on the second volume. I've done that.

The issue is that I own the ORIGINAL Jam Packs I bought with GB 1, namely Jam Pack (1), Jam Pack 2Remix Tools, Jam Pack 3Rhythm Section, and Jam Pack 4Symphony Orchestra (which I spent good money on when I bought Garageband 1) and these don't seem to be able to install on the ALTERNATE volume (the 80 GB). They simply wind up on the Startup Disk like GB does via default, unlike the custom install of the original program and its loops which are on the 80 GB volume.

Is it an issue with my 'old' Jam Packs? Do only the 'new' Jam Packs allow for installation on an alternate volume WITHOUT doing the SYMBOLIC LINK thing? Does Apple realize that a lot of folks bought those first Jam Packs and can't necessarily afford to replace them with the 'new' ones--as the 'old' ones still work? Is there a workaround? Or am I locked into the symbolic link method. Hope!) Is there something Apple does for purchasers of those 'old' Jam Packs to allow for the same custom install options as the new?

Any help would be deeply welcomed! Thanks much, Yusuf Lamont G4 Dual 867 MDD 2GB RAM, Combo SuperDrive Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2 int. HDs (120GB-system/scratch, 80GB media) 2 ext.
